When you’re a traveler at heart, you view every day as an adventure, your neighborhood as a foreign country, and as a New Yorker, your MetroCard as your passport. I knew I wanted to share my adventures with other travel lovers whether those experiences were from the other side of the world or the other side of my street.
Anyone who has started a blog or a company knows that coming up with a name is a very daunting and time consuming task. I went through over 200 ideas before deciding onTraveling Olive.
Traveling Olive stemmed from my favorite book growing up, That Olive, a story about a cat named Olive who was always exploring new places and getting into mischief around the house. I checked this book out of the library every chance I could.
One day, my mother found That Olivein a pile of discarded books outside the library.
Thankfully, she slipped it under her coat and brought it home. I’ve treasured that book ever since and eventually named my own cat Olive.
Thank you, Mom!
Additionally, It just so happens that I am completely obsessed with olives, (as in the fruit), and try to sneak olives into every dish…when my boyfriend is not looking.
So there you go… Traveling Olive.
Enjoy the adventures!
